Learn about it. Love it. Look after it.
The Ocean Advocate's goal is to help cultivate a growing movement of people of all ages and from all regions who feel connected to the sea and inspired and empowered to take action to protect our life-giving ocean.
The project is built on the idea that when we learn about something, we're more likely to care for it. And there's so much to learn about the ocean. Armed with knowledge and inspired to care, it's then far more likely we'll do what we can to protect our precious sea, which sustains all life on Earth. This endeavour involves collaboration and sharing information, founded on the belief that every one of us can make a difference, especially if we work together.
To help storytellers, advocates, activists, policymakers, scientists, students and the ocean-loving public in general improve their writing skills and communicate with impact to champion our life-giving sea, The Ocean Advocate offers a two-and-a-half-hour writing masterclass. For more information, visit the page.
For exclusive updates, news, sightings, the latest advancements and insights into animals beneath the waves, sign up for the weekly newsletter. To stay in touch with The Ocean Advocate, visit Linktree for social media links and join the WhatsApp community for real-time news on events, courses, jobs and opportunities.
The Ocean Advocate is endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade and incorporated as part of UNESCO's Blue Thread: A Global Network for Ocean Literacy in Action.

campaigns
There are numerous ocean campaigns each year. The Ocean Advocate partners with some and highlights others.
These campaigns involve heartfelt efforts to protect the ocean and, by spotlighting some of them, the hope is they'll garner more support and people keen to be involved in ocean conservation will find projects that resonate with them. If you have a campaign that's noteworthy, please send an email.

“It's not possible to save the world by trying to save it. You need to find what is genuinely yours to offer the world before you can make it a better place. Discovering your unique gift to bring to your community is your greatest opportunity and challenge. The offering of that gift — your true self — is the most you can do to love and serve the world. And it is all the world needs.” Thomas Berry, Soulcraft: Crossing into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche
